Holika Dahan comes a day before the festival of Holi. It is also well known as the Chhoti Holi. So, on this very day of Holika Dahan the holy pyres can be seen on streets with the burning flames in the open space.
Basically, Holika Dahan signifies the victory of good over the evil. Hence, people use to sing and pray around the fire which indeed is a tradition across major Indian states. Prominently, Holika Dahan is linked up with the legend of Prahlad, Holika and Hiranyakashyap.
